slides and swings and seth

Still enjoying all the spring weather.  Yesterday we went to a park.  Seth was pushed on the swing (first) and got to go down a slide (first). He loved both equally.  Before going to the park grandma let him play in her potting soil on her deck (first) followed by trying to eat a handful of it (first).  Seth had a very full morning :)

Grandma helping Seth climb up the slide!
The red moose hat that he always wears in the pictures was given to him by his aunty EM.  It's the only hat that he keeps on his head!!!

signs of spring.

Garlic does really good in this part of Southeast Alaska.  Says a friend and according to my Gardening Southeast Alaska book.  Last fall we planted three different types of garlic: Polish softneck, Purple Glazer and some other (?) variety.  This is our first experiment with garlic growing. Today I was really thrilled to go out and see the garlic is actually growing! :) Yay! Hopefully the end results are as good :)

The only down side is that we have the garlic growing in the green house.  I should have planted it outside :(  We are thinking about what we should do with all the tomato plants we have started.

Seth and our perfectly useless dog, Eli, who lets bears, deer and ravens come into our yard.

Seth feeding Eli dog treats. This treat ended up in Seth's mouth and not Eli's!  Yuck.

enjoying the spring

Finally we are getting some nice weather.  Seth and I have been loving it.
Walking around the parking lot at Blind Slough.

Here we are at our first Blind Slough walk of the spring!

my latest

A crafty friend of mine showed me how she makes these earring holders.  I LOVED them.  So I went home and made one for myself and I'm working on one right now for my mom.

Isn't it cool?!?!  The ribbon I glued on the back side to hang my hair clips.

My earrings

Holding my pretty hair clips I made.

This is the one that I'm working on for my mom.  I found the frame at Sally (salvation army) for 50 cents, it was missing the glass and matte.

This is the wire mesh that I picked up at the hardware store to use.

I cut it out to size and hot glued it in. I'll post the finished product later!

Signs of spring.  My flowers wanting for warmer weather to go outside.

Grandma J

Jesse's mom, grandma J., came up to visit us for 10 days.  She hadn't seen Seth in over a year.  Seth of course loved all the extra attention and one extra person in the audience.  We had a wonderful time :)

Trying on Grandma's glasses.

Defiantly showing off his climbing skills

Trying to sit still.

What's new with Seth.

  1. He's really babbling a lot more.  Trying to say words.
  2. His 1 year molars are coming in. So far two have poked through...  Lots of drooling and fussiness.
  3. Loves walking around outside.
  4. We had a Saint Patrick's day party. Which was Seth's first grand gathering at his house.
  5. Dinner time is defiantly a social event in Seth's world.
  6. He's a social butterfly. Period.  Kind like his daddy :)

his newest love

I love the small towns!  A week ago we were in the hardware store; While Seth and I were playing in the toy department, there was one of those tyke cars for sale. $150 brand new and he loved sitting in it.  I hated the price and would never spend that much. So I took a picture of him sitting in his car and put it on face book.  I thought nothing of if until the next day a neighbor called saying that I needed to come over and take her tyke car that her kids out grew!!!  SCORE!  Love small towns!

He plays with this car A LOT.  He loves sitting in it and backing up.  Seth also figured out that if he gets it close to the couch or end table he can pull him self up on top of couch/end table.  He loves getting into things!

Showing off his new kicks

Little guy got new shoes last week!  He's pretty pleased

Also showing off some left over dinner on his face!

Pretty sure if someone took a picture of me like this it wouldn't be as cute as his chubby thighs and legs! Not fair!

Still is a cutie no matter what face he's making!

neat treats

When I'm in the mood for making cookies but don't feel like taking the time and scooping cookie dough, I always make this recipe.  I came to the realization that I make this recipe A LOT.  A least once every two months.  Actually the first time I had this recipe was when my best friend and now sister-in-law, EM, came up and made these for me.  I don't think I ever told her how often I made them after that first time...  I make them most frequently.

Mini Morsel Shortbread Squares.

1 Cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 Cups chocolate chip mini morsels. ( I always use normal size)
21/4 cups flour

Preheat oven to 350.  Beat butter and sugar in bowl until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour. Stir in 1 cup chocolate chips. Press into bottom of  greased 9 by 13 baking pan.  Bake for 30 minutes. Immediately sprinkle with remaining morsels.  Let stand for 5 minutes. Spread evenly.

***I add the two cups of chocolate chips right away I don't spread any over the top... simply because I forget to and now it's such a habit***

For this weekend I recommend that you make these bars and go to your library and get this book:  The Dressmaker of Khair Khana by Gayle Tzemach Lemmon.

a precious sound

Today was our first prenatal doctor appointment for baby # 2!  We nailed down a due date... August 27 2012, which makes me 15 weeks along.
I cringe going to doctor appointments thinking about how much we are spending on visits and tests. But when it comes time to hear the baby's heart beat for the first time it's really an incredible moment;  that always brings tears to my eyes!

It's a special moment to hear the baby's fast heart beat against my heart beat in the back ground.  This makes the pregnancy feel more real.  Although I have been feeling baby move around already and that defiantly feels real!  Here we go again!

end of August

Yikes it's March already!  We have to start seeds soon for our garden!  Yay!  Spring is almost here!  Lately I have been suffering from a really bad cold that doesn't want to go away :\  Luckily Seth has been avoiding all the nasty germs that have been going around.  I hate it when babies are sick.
The main exciting news is...

We are expecting another baby!  If all goes well we will be welcoming this new baby at the end of August beginning of  September!  We don't have a for sure due date quite yet. Looks like things will be getting pretty busy around here!

What Seth has been up too.
  1. Him and I made his first snowman the other day :)  Sadly I don't have any pictures due to the neighbor plowing his snowman over :(
  2. Hubby and Seth are taking a tot and parent swim class every Saturday for the next 6 weeks :)  This was actually Jesse's idea and was very excited about taking his boy swimming.  So far Seth LOVES the pool but hates the loud locker rooms and shower. (pictures to come)
  3. Seth's going to be a big brother! Oh boy what a shock that will be when he's no longer the center of attention!
  4. Not really pertaining to Seth but still exciting for me.  Eli, our loveable mutt, has a electric fence now.  Which is keeping him home and out of the neighbors hair.  YAY for Petsafe electric fences!
