Day 18: Baked Cotton balls

I wasn't going to do this one... but I decided to go ahead this morning and whip up (these) baked cotton balls before leaving for my weekly prayer meeting.

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1cup water
  •  food color (if you want colorful cotton balls!)
  • And of course cotton balls!  I really wish I had the jumbo size cotton balls when I did this.  I started putting five cotton balls together just to make bigger balls.

What they look like when you crack one open.

Combine all ingredients and mix.  Make separate colors if you want.  Dunk balls in mixture set on a greased cookie sheet.
bake for 45 mins. at 300 degrees.

My mom watched Seth for me this morning so I brought these over to her house for him to play with.  We tried to get him to break them open to pull out the fuzz. He was happy putting them in one container then another. My mom said that he played with these forever.  When I got back to her house three hours later he was still playing with them... I might make another batch up!

  • These would really be better if you made them with jumbo size cotton balls instead of regular size.

Day 17: Magazines

This evening I was going through a pile of People magazines and ripping out the book suggestions.  When I was done with a magazines I gave them to Seth, who carried the magazines around ripping pages from them.  This activity entertained him for an hour;  it probably would have entertained him longer, but it was already thirty minutes passed his bed time.  More fun tomorrow!

Note to self: Let the kid rip up more magazines!

Day 15: Spaghetti noodles

Back to rainy weather... I'm so happy Seth and I got to enjoy a beautiful, summery weekend.

Here is some pictures of Seth slurping spaghetti noodles.  He has a real knack at it.

look at those cheeks

Day 12,13 and 14: Summer stuff!

Due to lack of pictures I decided to post day 12,13 and 14 all together.  Day 12 and 13 I took the pictures with my iPhone.  On day 13 I completely ruined my iPhone... so no pictures.  FYI: always remember to take your cell off the hood of your car before going into town.
This weekend we had fabulous weather; in the 80s!  Seth and I enjoyed all three days!  Lots of swimming on the deck, cook outs and outside time.
Day 12: first  strawberry soda! Yum!
Day 13: first  time seeing Tiki torches burning on the deck.  ( Might not be impressive to you, but very impressive for him :)

This was a fun one Day 14:  Running through a sprinkler!  After church on Sunday we had a cookout at our friends.  Our friends have a BEAUTIFUL, grassy, moss free lawn (grassy lawns are VERY rare up here)  Not only did Seth get to enjoy a grassy lawn, but also got to run through a sprinkler!

A few pictures of our weekend!

Day 10: Wading and more playing

Finally, It was a decent day.  This morning I took Seth and Eli, our dog, to Blind Slough.  Today's first was that Seth waded in the water at Blind Slough.  The mosquitoes were kind of bad but at least it wasn't rainy and cold :)

Seth always on the move... ALWAYS

Looking off the bridge at Blind Slough again.

Day 9: Hide and dig

Today I hid 8 of Seth's little people and animals in a container of dirt and had him dig them up.  I came up with this idea on my own hehe :)
I wonder if he was puzzled over how his toys got in a container of dirt?

A George Washington pose?

Day 8: Pretend play bubblebath for stuffed animal

We had a very nice father's day weekend.  Jesse was home for four days! We are all recovering for colds that we caught on Thursday.

So today Seth took a bath with his FAVORITE stuffed animal.  Here is Mr. Bunny... that's what I call him.  Jesse thinks he looks more like a kangaroo.  Whatever he is Seth sure loves it.

before bath

I have seen this idea of giving your kid a bath with their favorite stuff animal on different baby/toddler activity websites.  All saying that kids "love" giving their stuffed animals a bath... which is true Seth did love it.  In the last 8 days, this was my least favorite activity.  Between a wet floor, high pitch excited squeals and crying fits every time I tried to take Br. Bunny out of the tub...it was more of a zoo then anything.

After bath!

In the end, Mr. Bunny is very clean, the carpet in the living room is clean and Seth had his bath for the day!

Praying for a few nice summer days so I can do outdoor stuff with Seth!

Day 7:Moonsand

My mom bought this moonsand box at Salvation Army a year ago.  You can make moonsand at home.

  • 4Cups sand
  • 2 Cups cornflour
  • 1 Cup water
I never made this.  Someday it would be fun to make my own. Click here for more tips on the recipe.

 Looks like he's having fun!

Day 6: S'mores

Seth's first s'more! My family and I had a picnic out at Blind Slough, a park five miles from our house. It was a typical south east Alaska day... Rainy:) Seth had a BLAST! A little bit of rain doesn't get him down!  Although I'm hoping we get some nice days soon; I'm getting a list of outdoor stuff I want to do with him!
