Day 3: salt dough

Father's day is this Sunday. Jesse will hopefully be home this weekend:) Today Seth and I worked on his father's day present.  It's another feet craft again!  I promise this will be the last one ;)  This was an easy and fast craft I was able to whip the dough up while he was eating breakfast and by the time he was done I was ready for his feet and hands!

We had to redo his foot print three times!  By the third try he was a pro at stepping on the dough!  I wish I had pictures but that would have been impossible for me to take pictures and help Seth at the same time.  Oh well :)

His hand print was tricky to do because he kept on trying to dig his finger nails into the dough. We had to redo this one three times also.  This was the best we could get:)

This is the dough recipe I used
  • Cup of Salt
  • Cup of plain flour
  • 1/2 cup of water (depending)
Mix all ingredients together until smooth.  The dough shouldn't be crumby or to sticky.  Keep adding water until you find the right texture.  I used more water then half a cup.  Knead dough until smooth then form it into the shape you want for your foot or hand mold.
Bake in pan for 3 hours at 200 degrees.  Before you bake your molds you can put a hole in the top with a straw if you are planning on hanging them.   When I was growing up my mom use to have my brother and I make Christmas decorations out of dough like this.  Fun times!

If desire paint when cooled!
